Sometimes booking a room in a hotel with a good brand name can be tricky. In my experience at Radisson hotel JFK airport I can tell that the chance of getting a decent room is 50/50. This winter we booked two rooms – a double and a single. The accommodation for 2 persons was very comfortable, but the stay at the single room was a nightmare for our friend. The air-conditioning unit was not functioning. Even after an air conditioning repair man came to fix the problem, my friend was freezing in the room and slept fully dressed.
The best thing about rooms in this Radisson hotel in USA is the free wireless Internet access. It was nice to find a coffeemaker with complimentary coffee in the room mainly because the breakfast offered in the hotel cost 18 euros per person and the menu was not really to our taste (no fruit, no fresh juices and no healthy food). Instead, we went to Hilton hotel which is at walking distance and we found a Starbucks cafe. There we bought bananas and croissants.
The restaurant in Radisson hotel JFK was also disappointing. It offered mostly sandwiches; service was poor and environment – unfriendly. The fitness center was good but we did not use it. There was also a sauna available to the hotel guests.
One of the reasons to choose Radisson hotel JFK airport was the location and the 24-hour free airport shuttle. Buses from/to the airport depart every 30 minutes. The accommodation is situated in a residential area of Jamaica and it is very close to Hilton, and Marriot airport hotels. The surroundings were friendly for a quick walk. It definitely does not deserve the Radisson brand but it is convenient to stay for 1 night.
